Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we worked on finding the slope of linear functions. We looked at linear functions on a coordinate plane to find two separate coordinate pairs on the line. We then used these two coordinate pairs to find the slope of the line. We input the x and y values into the formula to find the slope then solved this problem using the skills of adding or subtracting then dividing integers where appropriate. The student was able to successfully find the slopes of the linear functions. However, she occasionally made some errors with identifying the right coordinates on the coordinate plane. Therefore we used an interactive internet source to review the coordinate plane and how to find various ordered pairs on the plane. We then continued to solve more problems that asked to find the slope."
"Today, natural logarithms were covered, as well as arithmetic and geometric sequences and series. We dealt with simplifying expressions and the rules of base e logarithms. The student needed help with solving arithmetic sequences and series. We worked through many lessons today and the last lesson was the longest, as well as the hardest lesson for him. I taught him a few strategies for knowing how to solve arithmetic series. All of the quizzes that he took today, he earned an A on."
"The student and I went over some chapter 9 concepts and all the equations he would need to memorize for his math exam. He made an outline for an essay on Dill from To Kill a Mockingbird for his English final."
"In this session, we reviewed for the student's upcoming exam. He appears to have a solid understanding of the concepts we reviewed. I think he will do well on the exam."
"We began reviewing for her final exam by going through some of the review problems that her teacher assigned and discussing what she should practice/memorize before next time, so we can focus on specific questions that she has. She did very well with the review problems today and feels confident."
"The student and I continued to prepare for his final Math Exam in two weeks, and he finished up one of his remaining assignments for his History class. Upon concluding our session, we scheduled all remaining sessions leading up to his Math Exam."
