Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wanted to review word problems where you need to solve systems of equations. I made a few practice problems for her that we worked through. We also went over some graphing of linear lines and how to simplify radicals/rational expressions. She seemed to have a good understanding of all the topics to be covered on the test."
"During this session we went over a couple of questions on a past exam. The student has forgotten a lot of previous material and seems to do a lot of things in his head. I suggested he print and look at a review sheet form on line to help him remember and that he buy a review book to do extra questions."
"Today, we continued reviewing for the credit by exam. He is showing vast improvements and is absorbing the information at a rapid pace, so today I gave him word problems to review."
"Today, the student and I reviewed her homework assignment and got started on the next night's. She did very well with most of the first assignment."
"We went over the student's study guide for her test and worked through all 19 problems. She did very well - she is very quick with basic arithmetic and understands most of the algebra concepts thoroughly. She struggled with graphing inequalities on a number line, and said that was something they had not covered well in class, so I gave a few more examples and practice problems for that, and she seemed to understand it after a few tries. She did well with most of the problems, but on a couple of them, she misread the question and jumped to a conclusion about the solution that wasn't true. I reread the question to her and helped her understand how to interpret what it asked. On that topic of test-taking skills, I reminded her to double check her answers that they are logical results, and that it answers what the question asked. I think she is a bright and eager student and I would expect her to do well on her test."
"We worked on some sample problems. We worked on functions, specifically making tables of values and discussing domain and range. We also did some examples of functions in functions. The student had some trouble at first, but after a few examples, she figured it out."
