Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has an exam to take tomorrow. He surely understands how to calculate areas and perimeters from sample problems. He wanted additional practice, so on the spot, I made up some samples combining triangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, rhombi, etc. He was done with the first such problem before I could write the second!"
"Today, we started assessing the students knowledge base by going through each of the practice tests that were given to her. Unfortunately, she did not have any graded assignments with her, so we had to go through each test one at a time. Before I left, I assigned her with attempting each of the practice questions on her own in order to increase efficiency of future sessions"
"We worked through the review homework for an upcoming exam. She is working on sin/cos/tan. She has a great understanding of the material, and is prepared for the exam. She did not have any Biology homework or material to review since she just had an exam."
"The student wanted to review for her upcoming test which will likely cover volume and surface area of prisms/pyramids/cones/etc. To start, we did a few of the problems on her worksheet. When she has the equation, she is very good at being able to plug in the correct values. I am not sure if she has committed each of the equations to memory, so I recommended that she spend some time to learn those. After completing those problems, we moved on to reviewing the last couple of chapters that she has done. She mentioned that the final will be cumulative and will likely cover the entire year. She has organized all her notes, quizzes and tests in order so that she has them readily available to review. We started with the most current and moved backwards through the notes first and then reviewed the tests."
"We studied for the student's test. He reported he received a 94 on his last test! This test would be on identifying side lengths and angles within polygons and graphing these same objects. We did the odds and evens of the review and he had no issues except minor graphing problems."
"The student is currently working on a chapter with quadrilaterals and parallelograms. We worked on her homework which was dealing with special properties of quadrilaterals and parallelograms. She understood the topics and the homework. We then looked ahead at problems involving kites and trapezoids and their specific properties. We did a few sample problems and she did not have any concerns with those."
