Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We met to talk about an upcoming quiz and final. I believe his final will be next week. We spent this session reviewing questions he had on any section. We talked about the conditions and results of the mean value, intermediate value, and Rolle's theorem. We also talked about the epsilon-delta definition of a limit."
"Instead of reading from novels, the student needed help with a character analysis assignment from class. We worked on finding textual support and writing sentences. He did a great job writing higher level sentences and using a thesaurus for word variety."
"The student and I briefly reviewed scatter plots and graphing coordinates, although we spent the majority of the session reviewing rules of grammar. Specifically, we discussed simple and compound subjects and predicates, action and linking verbs, possessive nouns, and run-on/fragment sentences. We also briefly discussed final tips for exam preparation, as next Tuesday will be our last session. The student has made great improvement in his math skills, understanding of the exam format, and motivation for studying on his own."
"Tonight we went through chapters 3 and 4 in the Physics book. The student needed some light review of Chapter 3: Work, Energy, and Momentum, but she did quite well with the questions, and in particular she seems to be doing better with quantitative questions, which she has been a little worried about. Chapter 4 was closely related to the way Thermodynamics was presented in General Chemistry, so only light review was needed. She did well with the questions we went over, and I think little practice is needed. Finally, we went over concepts from Chapter 5: Fluids and Solids, and she said she felt pretty comfortable but would review some of the formulas and concepts, particularly regarding Elastic Moduli. We laid out a good plan for the next week, with her studying Physics mostly but also reviewing Gen. Chem. and doing a Verbal Practice Test. We are aiming to be done preparing for Physics and Gen. Chem. by January 1st."
"Today the student and I reviewed the experiment for one of his labs, compiled the necessary data and graphs for the lab, and completed the written parts that he still needed to finish. It was a productive session."
"The student's professor didn't post her newest assignment yet, so we worked on an old assignment that she needed help completing. We worked with the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator and outlining logos that her teacher assigned, and also, she selected a logo of her choice, and we outlined that one as well."
