Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed linear equations for the student's test. We focused on graphing lines, converting from standard form to slope-intercept form, and writing the equation for lines containing certain points."
"We went over practice problems from the Algebra I assessment exam book. By the end of the session, he was able to solve the problems correctly."
"The student and I went over her math exam packet. She received her score back and she received a 90! :-) I'm so proud of her."
"Today we worked back through questions on the student's practice test. He could see the progress he's making and was able to explain the reasoning behind most of the questions. We also moved a couple of questions further, these included problems about the distributive property and percentages."
"The student is currently studying parabolas; their graphs, finding roots, axis of symmetry and vertices. He had a few hiccups with the initial concepts, but after we went over them, he grasped it fairly quickly. He tends to rush a bit, and try to do a lot in his head. He hasn't been doing well with his quizzes and tests, and this may be a contributing factor. He has a test coming up next Tuesday on chapters 6 & 7, and I am going to make up a practice test to give him on Sunday. We will decide how to proceed from there."
"We did a very brief review of some of the types of problems we went over last time, and then we started working on the intermediate algebra section of her work book. A lot of the principles that we worked on in the elementary algebra section were just built upon and expanded in the sections we went over today, so that allowed us to review some concepts. The student continues to be able to keep up with me, though she was not able to go over the problems from the last section before our lesson this time. I think she has a very good grasp on things thus far, though, again, I do not think that it would hurt to do a little more practice with some of the sections."
