Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we worked on the grammar homework then moved on to brainstorming for his memoir. We discussed using memories that he could actually remember as well as memories that have had a significant impact on his life. I left him with what we'd talked about, and we moved on to vocab from the previous session. We reviewed the definitions and went over more example sentences so he could finish the problems for next time."
"We reviewed pronouns with a fun quiz and completed her homework assignment on conjunctions. We moved on to possessive apostrophes and the various forms they can take. We concluded the class with a jealousy game about apostrophes. Our next session we will cover math."
"*We spent a majority of the session working on identifying and properly selecting parts of speech. *We practiced identifying parts of speech via an online game. We did follow up practice problems specifically aimed at adverbs, pronouns, and prepositions. *After review and a preposition quiz, she showed great improvement with the pronouns and prepositions. *We reviewed a worksheet on subject-verb agreement. She did pretty well with this. *She is learning exponents in schools, so we reviewed exponents basics and practiced exponent problems via two worksheets. She did well with this. *We reviewed her school flashcards on perfect squares, which she did really well with. *We reviewed multiplication and division extensively, and she learned. I explained to her that she needs to continue to review on her own so she does not forget. Continuing practice: *Regularly review basic multiplication and division. *Review perfect squares flashcards in preparation for exam on Friday."
"We worked on just the hardest problems from the student's math, and he assured me he could do the rest himself. Most of our time was spent studying for his history test."
"We went over the student's planner and the work that he had covered with his other tutor. He did his chemistry worksheets on naming compounds and ionic charges and reviewed for his polygon test in geometry. We reviewed what work he needs to complete for the week and which classes he should put in higher priority based on how comfortable he feels with the material for the final and how difficult the final is expected to be. I left him with instructions to start on making his flashcards for his chemistry final review so that he will know what to include on his notecard that he is allowed for the final."
"We began working on a master review for the student's final. We started from chapter 2 and studied. The plan is to gradually study over the next 2 weeks."
