Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed conditional probability, binomial probability, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing."
"Today the student and I covered some of his past homework problems to prepare for an upcoming exam."
"The student and I worked some more on ANOVA today, then worked through some linear regression problems. We wrapped up with a short summary of multiple linear regression."
"Today was our final review session before the student's final exam tomorrow. We went over the final 4 modules of the course, which he was the most confident in on the first time through. We discussed minor points that he had gotten hung up on in order to avoid getting hung up on similar things in the final. We discussed strategies, such as working through things he recognized and could solve confidently first, and not getting thrown if a question seemed unfamiliar on first glance. I'm impressed with how far he has come since we started working together, and the amount of effort and determination he has shown towards the course material, and I think he is as prepared as he could be for his final examination."
"We finished a chapter on sampling distributions that involved proportions and then moved on to a chapter about confidence intervals. We went through the basic steps of a confidence interval first. Then we did examples of numerous types of confidence intervals including for means, proportions, and difference between means and proportions. I also showed the student how to check his answers using calculator shortcuts."
"We went over a list of concepts and definitions commonly used in stats by looking through the student's homework assignments. It seems helpful to go over the formulas and concepts, since there is a lot of terminology involved in a beginning stats course. Through the homework assignments, she would be able to get good practice on the concepts and their applications. I think it takes some time to get used to the terms and be comfortable with different definitions. I think she will benefit from reviewing the notes we went over during the session."
