Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we focused on the student's vocabulary for his final exam. He got all of the questions correct. I am very proud of him! We finished up by watching two clips from "A Christmas Story" and summarizing them in Spanish."
"The student and I covered the vocabulary on his final exam, namely, words that had to do with school, everyday activities, and reflexive verbs. We talked about the different uses of conocer and saber for the first time. I asked him to review all the vocabulary on his test before our next session so that we have some memory to work with/draw on as we review together!"
"During our session this week, the student worked on her Spanish homework that involved using forms of the word "aquel" as well as possessive adjectives. She has a quiz coming up this week, so we also used flash cards and repetition as an approach for studying new vocabulary. She has made significant improvements in her Spanish pronunciation, and her confidence in how she believes that she is doing in the class is definitely getting better, too!"
"In today's session, we worked entirely on the student's final essay. He managed to get 3 of his 4 paragraphs finished for the most part, with me leaving him advice on how to write his final paragraph in the present progressive tense. He also has to go back and add some sentences with reflexive verbs and verbs like gustar to a couple of the paragraphs to meet his quota. In tomorrow's tutoring session, he is supposed to have the essay completed so that we can edit it together, check to make sure he has met all the requirements, and work on a PowerPoint presentation together regarding his essay subject matter. He told me that he felt he did well on the reflexive verbs quiz we had studied for the day before. He said that his teacher made it a multiple choice test, so he felt comfortable because we had prepared for a harder type of quiz."
"We continued studying for the student's Spanish final. We covered the preterite, where he did well recognizing the changes for each pronoun. We then went over formal and informal commands, vocabulary, and using se in a passive way. He performed a lot better than last session."
"We covered the subjunctive tense when it appears irregularly. We went over the essay topics that the student will be writing for her final in-class essay."
