Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over various physiology topics including the cardiovascular, respiratory, immune and digestive systems."
"We covered vapor pressure, Dalton's laws of partial pressure, and stoichiometry of finding gas pressures at STP using water displacement."
"We worked on some problems dealing with thermodynamics, and then reviewed a little bit of material on limiting reagents."
"We covered a biology research project for class and reviewed the student's last test score. She scored 12 points higher on this past exam than the last one. We spoke about the study technique of using color codes and talking the material over with friends in order to help memorization of material."
"The student had a whole lot of assignments to choose from to work on but his most pressing assignment was math. He had 2 failed math tests on which his teacher is allowing him to make corrections for a better grade, but time was running short to get this done. So he completed corrections for one math test, which allowed us to explore online resources for learning math concepts when he doesn't get how to do something. Reading was the primary issue, as he doesn't seem able to discern what is being asked of him--he just plunges right in. He was very pleased that he had gotten the entire test corrected. Most of his answers on this test were wrong, so he had a lot to learn and do. His knowledge of basic algebra seems excellent."
"The student has a 2-part lab on restriction digests and gel electrophoresis. I explained what restriction enzymes are and how they function. We covered the technical aspects of gels and the purpose of the different components. With this information, we were able to complete most of the questions in her packet. We will finish analyzing the results when they run the gel next week."
