Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had just taken a geometry quiz and turned in an earth and space project so he did not have much work to do except his geometry homework. He finished it without needing much help as the material he is covering right now is relatively straight forward. His geometry class is currently working on the relationships between different parts of a circle. We will review this material next week to make sure he remembers how to do everything."
"Preliminary meeting with the student to set goals and discuss what he's working on this summer. I'm going to get my hands on the History reading. I'm looking forward to discussing his European History work, and we'll work on some short writing samples and perhaps some essays."
"We continued to work on elapsed time and did a review of word problems that included addition and subtraction problems. We worked on fractions for homework and in addition, and I introduced the student to multiplication facts families up to 3."
"In my last session with the student we continued to work on the Reading section, with focus on the Sentence Completions. I encouraged him to learn the root words from a list I provided so that he could use the positive/negative process of elimination to be able to answer these type of questions more effectively. We also did a brief review of the critical aspects of the essay, and a small amount of grammar review. I provided him with extensive instructions on the best approaches to take in the month before his SAT."
"Talked about periodicity, or the characteristics and classification of elements on the periodic table. Went over other material as well hitting anything the student was still feeling unsure of."
"The student and I covered a lot today! We reviewed perfect passive participles and the conjugation of the imperfect tense. Then we looked at the third declension and did a few practice translations. We also introduced the passive voice and managed to squeeze in one practice translation. He will learn the passive forms, and we will practice translations for those next week."
