"The student worked on a diagnostic for the critical reading section and we went over the questions, identifying areas of strength and strategies to work on. We talked about identifying the overall tone and main point of passages, as well as matching answer options to sentences in the passage. In addition, we talked about strategies for saving time and how to build stronger SAT vocabulary. I asked him to work on an essay for our next session."
"The student and I had an excellent session today; we did solid work on math, and she almost aced a verbal section, although she still needs a bit more practice to get to perfection. The math continues to be a struggle, but over time, I'm confident that she'll do better - she just has to learn all the different tricks!"
"The student and I met for an extra time to work some more on her math. I definitely saw some progress, especially with some of the algebra problems. I think that one thing she can benefit from is to make sure to check her answers. She is good at skipping over problems that she does not understand, and therefore not wasting time on them. I advised that she should really especially focus on the first half of the test, spending 40-45 mins on that, and then going through the rest of the test and finding the problems that look familiar to her, and then filling in answers for the rest. She is good with the geometry problems and has a knack for seeing those answers right away."
