"We went over graphing rational functions. We discussed finding both vertical and horizontal asymptotes then used this knowledge to graph them. He finished his review packet for his quiz, then we started doing some review problems for his final."
"The student and I continued to prepare for his upcoming algebra final. Specifically, we finished studying and reviewing the second half of the preparation packet. As we reviewed, he took notes. The packet contains the following topics: solving linear equations, graphing linear equations and functions, writing linear equations, solving and graphing linear inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities, exponents and exponential functions, polynomials and factoring, quadratic equations and functions, radicals and geometry connections, and rational equations and functions. He informed me that he is scoring well on his tests and quizzes at school. He is a hard-working student: attentive and always focused."
"We reviewed for her test next week and I assigned some homework to help her review for it on her own."
"The student has a final in a couple of days so we worked through some problems from her review sheet. She had forgotten most of the concepts covered so I would work with her through the review problems and then give her similar problems to do herself. We focused on factoring, distributive property, simplifying radicals and using like denominators to compare fractions. I taught her the factor tree strategy for simplifying radicals and the x-game strategy for factoring polynomials."
"Today, the student and I reviewed proportions/percentages, algebraic operations, and the quadratic formula. He is doing a wonderful job with this material. He will focus on distribution and the quadratic formula. Also, he will practice problems that involve multiplying two negative numbers together. He has made great improvements and I am very proud of him!"
"We reviewed the practice exam that the student's teacher will review tomorrow. She seemed much more confident today than she has been. She was able to quickly do several kinds of problems that she had trouble with when we started working together. I heard positivity in her voice that I had never heard before about the exam. She was also able to direct the session, which she had never done before. I'm proud of the progress she's made. I think she's ready!"
