"During my first year of college, I taught a conversation class for Beginning Portuguese language students. I also instructed two elementary school students in beginning piano.
Having taught in a wide variety of subjects has led me to encounter many different teaching scenarios. Along with helping students conquer general subject knowledge, problems like test anxiety and time management are my specialty."

" Even in high school I would help my friends with their homework, so I guess you can say I've been tutoring even longer than 11 years.
I always try to find ways to make the subject matter easy to relate to. I don't believe there is such a thing as a difficult subject, I just believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses, and that it is best to focus on the strengths and use them to overcome the weaknesses. For example, some students struggle with word problems in math, but they enjoy drawing pictures."

" I graduated with honors from UCSB with a BA in Psychology and a minor in US History. For the past 3 years, I've taught ESL (English as a Second Language) abroad in Japan and Chile. I love working with students and helping them grasp concepts that they have struggled with in school. I enjoy building up their confidence in the subject matter, and then watching them be able to use their knowledge to solve problems on their own. It's very important to me to establish a good rapport with my students, as that builds trust and confidence, as well as make the tutoring session more fun." ...

"Before coming here to San Diego, I was a high school chemistry teacher for five years in Burbank, where I taught Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and A.P. Chemistry. It was a wonderful experience, and I have learned so much: not just good teaching methods, but also how to relate to students on a personal level. This, I feel, is more important because it helps me connect the concepts that I'm teaching to something that they are more familiar with."

"I was also premed, and recently took the MCAT. Having scored in the top 10 percentile for both the physical sciences and biological sciences sections, I have decided to tutor these subjects before I begin applying to medical school. A California native, I became fed up with the New England weather at Brown (though Providence, RI is a very charming city indeed), and headed back West to San Diego, where I have been residing by the beach for the past few months. I like to surf, and play music and basketball in my free time. In addition to Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, I tutor any math subject from arithmetic through Calculus 2, and have been ...

"Originally I am from Issaquah, WA and moved to beautiful, sunny San Diego a few years back. I tutor all subjects, but I mainly focus on math and sciences as those are my passion.
