"In this lesson the student and I went over a poem he is writing a brief paper on this week. We analyzed its sounds, its title, its attitude, and its theme. I offered to look over any paper via email before he submits it. We also did a bit of reading together."
"The student's literature teacher recently announced that instead of the one quiz on "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge," they were going to have a test on all of the short stories that they had read recently. Therefore, for the session, she and I clarified the concept of naturalism and read over the two Mark Twain short stories that were going to be covered. She has been doing very well with her literature, and was one of the few who did well on her Huck Finn test (she made a 92!). It was a great session!"
"We spent most of the lesson working on in-paragraph transitions. The student first identified all the transitions in a well formed paragraph, and then we looked at several with no transitions and compared them with when there were transitions. She then completed a worksheet filling in transitions on her own in a paragraph. We concluded the lesson working on vocabulary for a quiz she had tomorrow."
