Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the student on more multiplying, and we also went over the teacher-noted concept of place value. She definitely understands place value, and she has been loving fractions. I'll give her some tips and tricks to use when multiplying fractions today so that she can start utilizing them when dividing fractions, which is her current unit. She felt confident in the quiz she took when we met up."
"Today the student worked on multiplication through the 4s. We also reviewed subtracting 2 digit numbers using borrowing. He seemed to warm up by the end of the session. It was very nice to meet him, and I look forward to working with him in the future."
"The student is working on dividing fractions in school. She finished her homework and I gave her some practice problems. She is doing well, especially when I draw a picture to help her understand what the question is asking. I worked on teaching her some multiplication and division tricks to help things get a little easier for her. She is doing really well with just about anything I can think to throw at her!"
"The student completed a review of their math homework on telling time. The first page of worksheet required the student to tell time using a clock, and the second page used digital and word forms. I checked the items for accuracy. We also reviewed a Science passage on weathering and erosion with comprehension questions. These answers were also reviewed for accuracy. I assisted the student with looking back into the reading to find answers."
"The students had testing results from school on perimeters and areas of basic shapes. We spent almost the entire time reviewing and practicing the formulas they needed to use. We ended by practicing some three figure addition on Splash Math. Addition and multiplication facts are a necessity for them to be successful in their math exams."
"During today's session, we worked on equivalent fractions. We completed practice problems to determine fractions using a number line. We then moved onto worksheets for equivalent fractions that were missing a numerator. She did better with these types of fractions because they involved division with the fractions. She moved more quickly through these problems than she did on the website. For the next session, we will work on fractions."
