Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I began a comprehensive review of his math material up until this point for his final exam. We reviewed: finding zeroes via synthetic division, FOIL, and the quadratic formula; graphing and finding the vertices + axes of symmetry for parabolas and absolute value equations; solving and graphing inequalities."
"Spent about half the time reviewing math that the student has done well on. The other half was spent on teaching her how to carry 1's when adding. Will try to cover basic addition next time along with what we went over this session."
"The student is working on adding numbers in the thousands and on adding 3 numbers with carrying. We practiced this extensively and she really seemed to understand this. We also worked on studying for her test. For homework she is supposed to continue studying for the test and focus on answering the question that's being asked. We also practiced her 8's multiplication, which she seems to understand."
"Overall the student did a fine job again! So far she is doing a great job and I'm very happy with her effort. She is a great student, a great person, and has the potential to be a great worker!"
"We covered Cramer's Rule and multiplying matrices. By the end of our session he was able to do every problem type on the project well. He has all the problems on the worksheets for practice. The session went really well."
"During our time together, the students worked on their homework. They had a good understanding of the material by the end of our time together. As always, the meeting was very productive and effective, and I look forward to working with them again Monday."
"The student and I went through the end of the chapter review quiz and practice test. He remembered the earlier material well and was able to answer most of the questions with little help."
"1. Absolute Value manipulation, algebraic manipulation of equations.
2. 1st session.
3. No concerns."

"I have been helping the student with concepts she is working on in her math class at school. She just learned how to divide 3 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers. She is also learning how to do multistep problems, and is doing well with them so far. Her most recent worksheet involved mixing up addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems. She did a good job recognizing which type of operation she needed to do to solve each problem."
"Today, the student sent me a few of her old quizzes. We covered finding the domains of a function, graphing them, and finding real numbers and asymptotes. I walked her step by step in how to approach each problem, and how to solve them. We covered the different problems on each test, and I left the rest of the repeated information for her to review on her own."
"We began reviewing for her final exam because she stated she understood the material for her last test. She had done the practice exam for the first four chapters of her book and we went over a couple questions she had. They were easily solved and we moved on to looking through her notes. I taught her about null and alternative hypotheses to help her in interpreting a z score for significance. We also spent time discussing different experimental set ups and trying problems where you describe the experiment done. For next time, she is going to do the second cumulative practice and we will go over any questions with that."
"The student and I worked on her final exam, determining which statistical techniques would be appropriate for hypothetical research scenarios and justifying the choices. This involved recalling the principles of all the tests she has covered in her course, including correlational studies, ttests (paired and independent samples), simple linear and multiple regression, ANOVA, chisquare, logistic regression, and nonparametric tests (e.g. MannWhittney U test)
We also briefly discussed the procedure for performing the nonparametric tests for section 2 of her final.
Her final is due on Thursday, so she will let me know if she needs any more help before then. If not, this will be our final session."
