Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I completed more practice on partial fraction decomposition. She is still a little uncomfortable with this topic, but is definitely making improvements. Our main focus in tonight's session was to study for a quiz she will be having tomorrow. We discussed and practiced in depth converting coordinates and equations to polar from rectangular form and vice versa. We also briefly talked about graphing imaginary coordinates. The student seemed to be comfortable over the material and was making good progress in our session."
"The student and I reviewed for her placement test for Calculus. Topics covered included a fairly extensive look at many Pre-Calculus lessons, such as exponential growth/decay, expanding/simplifying logarithms, profit maximization, and matrices."
"The student's last section in class covers some more advanced types of factoring. We worked on factoring by grouping, the slide and divide method, rationalizing denominators and perfect squares/cubes."
"We began work on vector formulas, matrices, polar and rectangular formats, and solving for angles using trig formulas. We completed practice problems in order to prepare for the final exam. We established necessary formulas in order to complete calculations in a timely and efficient manner. We also reviewed aspects of combinations and permutation calculations using the functions through the calculator."
"We discussed the graphical and analytical components of limits, including left-hand, right-hand, and overall limits. Also differentiated limits from f(x) or the actual value of a piecewise function. I showed the student analytical techniques such as multiplication by the conjugate, factoring, and LCD to cancel out factors in the indeterminate 0/0 form."
"The student and I went over the binomial theorem. We discussed the methods of finding each term's coefficient, including combination and Pascal's triangle. We also discussed how to perform binomial expansion. He did very well with the material. He seemed to struggle a bit with understanding the factorials involved in combination, but seemed to get it by the end of the session. I was informed that he received an 89% on his last test, which is definite improvement."
