Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has been doing well lately. I suggest she continues with her tutoring sessions for Spanish moving forward."
"In this session, the student completed a copy of the "por" and "para" quiz. She also did a preterit and imperfect review, where she had to choose whether or not a verb should be in preterit or imperfect. For the next session, I definitely want to have a lot of practice."
"The student and I went over a chapter in his book that introduces the subjunctive verb tense and certain key phrases that are always used with the subjunctive. We talked about the irregular forms of ser, haber, ir, saber and estar in the subjunctive, as well as other verb forms that are irregular in the first-person present (yo form) that carry over into the subjunctive tense. He did some practice exercises, and we discussed the right way to make verbs in the present subjunctive."
"The student shared his goals for tutoring, and shared the curriculum/ schedule for his Spanish class. We then spent a large time of the session going through his vocabulary from Unit 7 Lesson 2. He shared some concerns with comparatives and superlatives, and we agreed to focus on that for the following session."
"The student and I reviewed vocabulary that he had already learned and that he had been practicing with digital flashcards. He wrote some sentences in a Google Doc and I explained the correct use of the vocabulary. We also reviewed adjective subjunctive clauses. He has a quiz coming up soon, so the doc will be helpful for review. I asked him to work on the last section we didn't cover so that he could gain a better understanding. Lastly, I asked him to review subjunctive conjugation because he has trouble remembering that. He does very well on the vocabulary!"
"The student and I read Don Quixote for Spanish. I made sure to review content and vocabulary with her, checking comprehension throughout the reading. She did a great job translating and has a good understanding of the plot and the main characters. For history, we discussed the project she's doing and how to look for certain articles online that will relate to her theme. We found two potential articles of the five total that she will need to provide for her teacher on Friday, and discussed the relationship between nationalism, her topic, and the hard news that we were reading, so she has an idea of what to look for as she continues her search."
