Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"As always, the student and I began the session with a fairly extensive vocab quiz, as her study list has been slowly accumulating over the last 3 months. We reviewed a few questions she had from practice sections that she did before this session, but then focused our attention on doing a set of 3 timed sections at the end of the SAT so that she could practice more than one section at a time, but less than a full test. We spent a good deal of time grading this section and reviewing the errors she made, which led to a long discussion/ review about strategies to utilize when a question is difficult at first pass. For the weekend, I asked that in addition to studying vocab, she complete the final practice test (#1), doing it all the way through and starting close to 8 or 8:30 am to mimic real testing conditions."
"We discussed and went over concerns from practice test sections I had assigned the student. She seemed proficient on the material and is able to easily correct her mistakes. Timing is not a problem for her either. We went over two new sections and attacked problems in different ways. She is quite strong in her problem-solving abilities. I discussed with her test-taking tactics to manage time and to plan out which questions to do and how to make the best guess when unsure of an answer. We discussed how to eliminate incorrect solutions."
