Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed how to do conversion factors, including how to use a calculator to avoid mistakes. We talked about Amu being the mass of an atom/molecule and about how many molecules make up one mole of an element. We did a simple problem to find how many molecules are in a certain amount of "g" of an element. We also reviewed how to divide two fractions and did other algebra work. We discussed the importance of units and showing work. The student has a good awareness of what he needs the most help with and is perseverant."
"We worked on equilibrium chemistry and Gibbs free energy. We went over the difference between standard free energy and the free energy of a reaction at any given point (similar to Q vs K for a reaction) and how a delta G or Q value can determine the direction a reaction is going to go. We also used ICE tables to solve equilibrium concentration problems and talked about different ways to use these. Overall, the student really grasped the material."
"The student and I looked over her learning guide to prepare for a chemistry test that she has tomorrow. We covered how to determine the limiting reagent, theoretical yield and percent yield. We also spent a little bit of time working on solutions, solubility and molarity, as that is the next section they will cover in class."
