Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed a pre-algebra math book in preparation of an 8th grade school exam. Covered addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of complex fractions. Student was able to work through all problems in the respective sections of chapter-2 by the end of the tutoring session. I also gave the student a worksheet with answers to complete for extra practice on his own time."
"Today The student and I went over another practice essay. She wrote one essay - timed, and we went over style and grammar errors. We then reviewed the dividing fractions worksheet we started last week just to make sure she had the concept down well. For the remaining time we went over more practice problems from each of the sections breaking them down into portions of 10-15 questions but keeping the same time ratio as the exam."
"During this session we practiced basic multiplication facts by playing a game and extended this lesson by asking questions. We also worked on multiples and patterns in multiplication by playing another game. At the end, we spent a little time on adding fractions with different denominators. We also created a math vocabulary sheet and added the words: factor, product, and multiples. The student did great learning and applying the vocabulary, and she is getting obviously quicker with her multiplication facts."
"Reviewed Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet." Reviewed Spanish and conjugating -ar verbs. Reviewed math pre-test on solving systems of equations."
"Went over another test the student took, specializing in the math section. Discussed her essays, which were good, but could use improvement; namely, an outline. Went over pre-algebra math concepts and some geometry."
"The student finished debugging his old program by writing a new program. The new program was a smaller version of the old. By making it smaller and not as complex he was able to find out where his code was flawed and make the necessary corrections. Once the corrections were made he was able to take the old code and integrate it into the new program. He now has a completely working game that is exactly what he expected of the old program. He also added a new feature to the game."
