Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed alphabet, was able to identify only five letters: j, b, x, z, and k. Did a wonderful job writing name and saying letters."
"I gave him some problems from all the materials we had covered last week such as percentage, percentage of change, and probability. He did very well with very little help from me. Since he is supposed to cover the same materials toward the end of school year I think he is in good shape for his class and his exam. For about 30 minutes, we went over Newton's Laws of Motion such as force and gravity for his test. He seems to understand the materials very well. I think he will do well on the test. For the rest of the session, we worked on his math homework, comparing fractions and converting fractions to decimals. I noticed that he has got better and faster at doing divisions, which is his least favorite part of math. I am very proud of him. At the three minutes calculation challenge, he solved 5 questions of 12 under 3 minutes. At next session, we will focus on math since he has no quiz or test for awhile."
"The student and I worked on mathematics and chemistry today. The session went very well. We were able to review two of her assignments. I look forward to working with her again on Wednesday!"
"The student has a quiz tomorrow, so we reviewed her homework together, and went over some additional domain and range questions since they will be on the quiz. The homework covered some converting of equations, which is still a little tricky, but she has made a lot of progress. The rest of the problems were on parametric equations, which is going well. She knows how to manipulate the equations, eliminate parameters, and graph them."
"The student and I covered the following: - The student read BCR developed from online news article re: DC installing addition traffic cameras effective Tuesday, May 27. - Completed worksheet - creating simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences. - Completed sentence completion worksheet - multiple choice - choosing best word to complete each sentence. - HW - inference worksheet 1 - logical inferences based on textual evidence. Completed #1 during session. - HW - vocab words - definitions, parts of speech, and sentences."
"Today was my second meeting with this student. Between this session and last, he took a practice exam, and he did see a substantial increase in his score. We were able to do good work by reviewing the test. We split our time between Logic Games and Logical Reasoning, working on the basic sketches and approaches to Ordering and Grouping games, then moving on to discuss questions in the Assumption family. He's going to take a practice exam and blind review it before our next lesson, and I'll troubleshoot individual issues with him next time."
