Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During the first session of SAT tutoring, the students and I went over the basic strategies of the SAT, scoring, timing, and breakdown of the sections. We then went into the strategies for the Essay, Writing section, Reading section, and Mathematics section with lots of practice problems in all three areas. We generally talked about where each of the three stands and what goals they have looking forward to taking this test in May and June. During the five hour session, we took a 30 minute break before finishing off more math practice and wrapping up the session. We will meet again on Sunday the 24th for 3 or 4 hours."
"The student and I filled out a table for a Chemistry lab dealing with stoichiometry. We also went through a practice packet and practice quiz on special triangles to help her prepare for an upcoming Geometry quiz."
"The student and I looked over mistakes on his Chapter 3.2 quiz. He said this quiz was prior to our last session and he felt that he hadn't made the same small mistakes he did on the test he took on Chapter 3 this past Wednesday. We began work on Chapter 4 concepts, including simple random samples, stratified/cluster/convenience sampling, and types of sampling/nonsampling errors."
"The student and I reviewed a paper she is working on for her applications. We worked primarily on organization, but also on making her writing more descriptive while still maintaining a clean format. We were able to get through her entire essay."
"I am working on Money with the student. She is having a little bit of difficulty distinguishing between the nickel and the quarter. We will be working on that until she understands the two before we move on to the next lesson."
"I reviewed the multipliers and how they affect GDP. We also covered PPC. He was doing pretty well with the review. His attitude was fine. I helped him make his flashcards for review. The win is he was doing well with reviewing this information."
