"The student was just looking at various topics in a free-form way, and we talked a bit about rotational kinematics, Kepler's laws, and Newton's law of universal gravitation. The student continues to be very studious and picks up concepts quickly, so I think she will continue to do well with these topics. Not much extra practice to work on at the moment, but we worked on a few example to illuminate certain topics."
"Today the student and I discussed some of the concepts of electric potential. I helped her finish her assignment as well as gave her some fundamental electricity equations that her teacher had not provided. The homework was one of the hardest she has had but we got through most of the problems without issues and she will talk to her teacher about the rest."
"We covered a review of topics consisting of circular forces and kinematics. As far as the concepts are concerned, the student understands it. The last quiz that she took she obtain an 88. I gave her 2 problems consisting of a circular force and a kinematics. No concerns, instead I continue to encourage her to read the problems thoroughly and take her time organizing her work."
"We worked on conservation of energy applied to projectile problems to review for her quiz tomorrow. The student just needed some help on how to approach this type of problem. The best place to start is by writing down the conservation of energy, including non-conservative work, and to figure out each term for a good choice of initial and final position."
"Both students have an upcoming physics test on momentum, so we spent all of our time dealing with momentum, collision, and conservation of kinetic energy problems. We learned how to use conservation of momentum and conservation of kinetic energy equations to solve for two unknowns. Both students needed help most with the more conceptual questions in their review packet."
"We covered more projectile motion problems today. We did some conceptual problems as she asked for more practice. We discussed the practicum she will be taking tomorrow and worked through some scenarios that might come up and the steps she could take to solve the problem presented in the practicum."
"We spent most of our time solving two problems from her last exam. We also touched on some chemistry because she had a test the next day, but she was knowledgeable in the material."
"The student and I started working on his final review packet provided by his teacher. He has a strong understanding of the concepts themselves as he is able to do many of the conceptual questions with little to no guidance, but he gets confused when equations are involved because he doesn't remember all of the equations. I suggested that he keep a piece of paper next to him where he writes down all the equations he uses and try to memorize those as it would be very helpful to him. We will be meeting again on Monday to finish the review packet."
"Today, we covered momentum and impulse for the first half of the session. We then did a semester review in preparation for his final exam. I recommended that he complete all of the questions in the review as well as the 8.1-8.3 review problems in the book."
"We worked on her final exam review and focused on using Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation as well as some momentum and graph questions. She had several more questions to do in preparation for the test. I explained to her how to use the equations to help answer conceptual questions."
"Covered all the concepts that will appear on the student's final exam. She had a little trouble understanding exactly what work is and how it relates to energy, but after a thorough explanation, she seems to be very prepared for the final."
"In this session we studied circuits and the role that EMFs and resistors have in them. We worked through a worksheet that the professor had given and also went over some old test material. She left the session with a better understanding of calculating current in a circuit."
