Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we went over direct object pronouns with and without prepositions (mi, ti, el, ella, usted, nosotros/as, ellos/as, and ustedes, me, te, lo/a, nos, los/as). Overall, this session went well."
"In this lesson, we went over commands. The student completed all the exercises and activities on this topic. We also discussed her final essay assignment using all the terms she learned in the past. She is very dedicated and learns easily. We also worked on pronunciation of the commands, as these words are written the same as some past tense conjugation so the difference is really in pronunciation."
"The student and I finished the play La casa de Bernarda Alba today. We discussed some of the major themes and important characters and events in the play as well as historical influences. I think she really enjoyed reading this play, and I will work on finding other things I think she might find interesting."
"Since the student is just beginning to learn Spanish, we started by going over the verb 'ser' (to be). We continued on to some basic verb conjugations in the present tense, and then finished with numbers, dates, and useful vocabulary. She was attentive and eager to learn. I encouraged her to sound out words syllable by syllable to make the pronunciation easier and pointed out letters that make different sounds in Spanish. I am sending along the PowerPoint I used to teach her the verb 'ser,' as well as a list of topics to study before our next session. I will quiz her at the beginning of the next session to see how she is progressing."
"Today we went over the preterite tense in Spanish. We also went over games aimed at improving vocabulary, as well as creating an essay outline based on a paragraph we had created in a previous lesson."
"Reviewed mid-term exam, including the proper use of preterite vs. imperfect past tenses, ser vs. estar, and Spanish history and culture from ancient times through the 16th-century."
