Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued to work through some homework problems she has been assigned. I look forward to tagging up with her again in a few days."
"Today we went over one of the questions in the student's textbook about pizza. I walked her through the problem, creating a pizza class and a class to use it. We went over the basics of objects and classes again and were able to have an application that asks the user for a size and topping for a pizza, and then print back to the user what they chose."
"In this session we did a final review for the student's Computer Science midterm tomorrow. We had gone over up to unit 3 yesterday and she did units 4 and 5 on her own so we reviewed the unit 6 packet and went over any lingering questions from the previous units. She knew the material very well and only had some minor difficulties with some topics which we cleared up."
"The student did an excellent job, as usual. We reviewed topics such as arrays, native methods, class structure, and more. As usual, she had plenty of good questions even when getting a problem completely correct, just to make sure she understood it from all angles. I am sure that she will have no trouble with her upcoming exam."
"The student and I went over a lot of things tonight. We started with 'extends,' went over 'implements,' talked about different uses for both, polymorphism, and so on. We then moved on to instance variables, and variable (and method) scope. Last, we went over ArrayLists. He's going to contact me in early January to let me know when we'll meet again."
"In this session we started a list of troubleshooting techniques. Specifically in this session we covered how to prevent malware, setting automatic updates and removing unwanted files. During the next session we will be covering more in depth troubleshooting questions: how to recover lost documents, what to do if your computer is slow, starting in safe mode and recovery points."
