Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over p waves, s waves, seismographs, earthquake activity, chemical weathering and physical weathering, comparing and discussing how they work in tandem. We also discussed river systems, tributaries and other water forms. We discussed landslides, mudflows and other destructive forces of nature that depend on land formation and precipitation. The student is doing great with the material. She just needs some clarification on the topics she is learning in the classroom. We are just putting all the pieces of the puzzle together so to speak. She is going to email me with what she would like to cover in our next session as well as letting me know if she needs some extra assistance on anything during the week."
"Today was the student and I's final session before his first exam, so we decided to focus on the types of problems that he is feeling least confident about. We had done a lot of work in previous sessions on equations of motion, so we focused on force problems, particularly ones involving slopes and/or pulleys. While he was struggling with the example problems at the beginning of the session, by the time we wrapped up he was working complex pulley problems almost entirely on his own, with only occasional minor guidance from me. Given that he was working some of the most difficult example problems from his textbook today, I think he will do fine with whatever his professor throws at him on his exam tomorrow."
"Covered gravitational pull and electrostatic forces. The student is definitely struggling from being placed in an AP Physics class with no prior background, but while going over material with him, he follows along well. I explained to the student how to approach problems as well as keeping consistent use of logic in his problems. We did not finish one problem, so the student will be trying that one on his own, and I will be sending him a solution tonight for him to review."
