Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began the session by reviewing multistep equations using inverse operations. We also reviewed the student's homework on graphing linear inequalities. She is able to find points of intersection using the graphing method.
She picks up on concepts rather quickly if provided with repetitive practice."

"Reviewed the concepts of regression lines, residuals, influential points, outliers, extrapolation, and exponential/logarithmic modeling in statistics. Also discussed graphing of rational functions through the analysis of intercepts, vertical/horizontal asymptotes, etc."
"Good session with the student. We did a bunch of stuff with triangle congruence rules SAS, ASA, and SSS. The student is really intuitively seeing the relationships and tricks."
"Practiced subtraction using money as a visual aid. This method seems to have helped immensely. Student had a much better understanding behind subtraction after seeing how "borrowing" works in subtraction using 1 $10 and 10 $1 bills. Practice is still needed. Student is showing a much better understanding of multiplication as wells. Times tables are not needed as often, and overall accuracy has improved as well."
"This was our first session together. We only covered a worksheet that he was given as an assignment. This covered exponential and power functions. The student was engaging, asked questions and was very receptive. Things to work on would be manipulating his radical expressions to a manageable algebraic expression and lastly, deriving an exponential function from a story problem."
"Continuing to review for the next test. The student is making great progress and has noticeably more confidence when approaching problems. Still some work to do with logs and with unexpected variations on problems. I try to throw him a couple of curve balls each session and it seems to help. I left him with 3 problems to work on that cover the three problems that he finds most challenging. We will have one more review on Sunday before the test."
"Today we reviewed the student's last exam. I've recommended she meet with her instructor to discuss in further detail her questions on the exam."
"We covered trig functions. we looked at the graphs of trig functions and how they are stretched/compressed/shifted. We used the unit circle to find angle measures which would yield a certain value for a trig function."
"Today we over adding and subtracting rational expressions. We also decided that we will have to have 2 hour sessions from now on."
"We continued using firs and second derivs to describe the behavior of fxns. We found intervals on which fxns were inc, dec, concave up/down. We also interpreted graphical and tabular first derivative info to reach the same conclusions. We also covered the Mean Value Theorem and applications."
"We went over a math worksheet for his homework covering probability for most of the session. The student has an understanding of probability and should continue to write out the arithmetic. We finished the session by starting his science homework."
"The student did very well tonight. We went over some things he has learned since his last chapter test, which is now firmly in the realm of quadratic equations. We went over six sections, and the student completed all of the sessions. Next time I plan to go over this method, as well as review some concepts when it comes to graphing parabolas."
