"* We worked through the list of commonly known words for 7th graders. * The student had a pretty good idea of about half of them, being able to provide synonyms. * She read a couple "Aesop's Fables" noting the "moral of the story." * Then we read "The King's Three Children." * I gave her 5 words from the list to find definitions for and use in a sentence."
"The student and I picked up on our lesson from last time. He was instructed to write an essay based upon the prompt I left for him. For the first 30 minutes, he read a brief story and then answered questions. Next, I had him answer questions from the both story he read tonight and the previous story from last week. He was able to use both texts as references. For the last 30 minutes, I had him improve upon a portion of his essay and start on his new essay for next week."
"The student and I met together at the library. We went over understanding the use of pronouns in a sentence and how the pronoun should correlate with the antecedent. Initially, he had a bit of trouble matching the pronoun and antecedent to its tense. I found an online program that pushed the student to find the word in the sentence that did not match the pronoun and then to correct it. I guided him through several sentences, and then he began to catch the hang of it. We will continue doing these exercises to reinforce the lesson. Later, I tested his fluency in reading. He is pretty fluent, but I am encouraging him to slow his pace down to improve his accuracy. I later emailed his math and English teachers to see his progress and skill set at school."
