Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued looking over her review packet covering surface area, lateral area and volume of prisms, pyramids, cones, cylinders and spheres."
"The student and I reviewed material from Chapter 12 on circles. He's still catching up but making progress."
"The student and I worked on a math project that involved complex numbers. He received a 100 on the quiz that he took after our last session. The next major assignment for him is the final exam."
"I discussed geometrical problems with the student. She was struggling with how to solve complementary and supplementary angles word problems. Another problem was difficulty solving geometrical problems completely. The student was apt at picking up the technique used in solving the geometrical problems. The student also appreciated the review of quadratic formula in solving resulting equations from geometrical questions. The suggested strategy for this student was to continue to practice the exercises in the standard text. The caution was, she needs to be careful solving sets of problems that use answers or solutions from previous sections or parts."
"Today we reviewed for the student's upcoming exam. She had a positive attitude during the session. We covered concepts that included the distance and midpoint formulas, polygon classification, intersecting line postulates, and line segment congruence. She understood the material, but we will continue to work on keeping her endurance high so that she does not get too fatigued near the end and make more mistakes/ show less work. I advised that she take her time on her exam, check her calculations carefully, and go back and double check when she is finished. Overall good session!"
"The student and I reviewed sections 1.1 - 1.6 in his book in preparation for his test on Friday. Sections covered included coplanar lines, measuring and constructing segments, measuring and constructing angles, angle pairs, formula in geometry and midpoint and distance in the coordinate plane. He executed well on the problems and understood the concepts. We talked about confidence and the need to work quickly."
