Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's parents mentioned that he is doing better in school! We reviewed his homework, which covered multiplying values in scientific notation form. Then, I pulled some more problems from his workbooks that focused on this concept, as well as some that we touched on yesterday. We did a lot of practice, and I'm confident he has a good grasp on how to answer these types of problems."
"We went over the Chapter 8 Part 2 review, which covered factoring polynomials and computing the difference of two squares. We went over several questions from the review and then went over the theories we had reviewed a couple of weeks ago - adding, multiplying, and dividing negative numbers. I encouraged the student to take her time and go back to check her signs after she completes the test."
"Today we worked on a little algebra. The student was struggling a little with algebraic expressions as fractions. Then we did some cultural writing for Spanish. She did well with this."
"The student and I worked on studying for her module 15 test on Thursday. She completed the extra credit worksheets and the review packet. She is in great shape, and will do very well as long as she checks her work."
"The student has a test tomorrow on factoring so we spent all of our time on that content. At the beginning of the session she was feeling a bit shaky about special products, but by the end of our time together she was picking them right out. She also did well with factoring by grouping and factoring out GCFs. She should do well on her test."
"We decided to pull up an old state assessment and go over problems that cover concepts he has already learned. He doesn't have a lot of experience with state assessment-style questions, and I think in the long run it will be helpful for him to see how the concepts he is learning will be tested on the exam."
