Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Checking in on the student's progress at school, we have pulled ahead of the weekly quizzes again, which is good. The student took a test this past week over the last four chapters and feels good about it, although the results are not back yet. Although we only reviewed one chapter today (chapter 35, introducing WWII) there will only be one quiz this week, so we are still on track. Keep it up!"
"Today we discussed the relationship that oil has to the Middle East's economy. The student researched economic outputs, foreign oil distribution and consumption, consumption statistics by country, and discussed and researched the role of OPEC in the global oil economy. He built an outline for the economics section of the Middle East paper and started researching citations for his economics paper. We then reviewed and edited the Politics section of the paper, made corrections, and did our second revisions. I assigned second revisions completion for Tuesday."
"The student received a 96 on her mid term. Her professor told the class to expect a more difficult final. He still has not given any details about the written assignment, which is due next week. We went over her reading for the following class and discussed the major points. She took notes to turn in to the professor."
"The student is improving in the writing section, despite her strong dislike for grammar. She much prefers working on the math problems because she has a knack for algebra. Fortunately, she is outstanding with reading comprehension questions, so I had her verbalize her ideas for a sample essay question, but I assigned her a full-length essay for homework so I can more accurately gauge her writing level. I also asked her to complete a reading section because our focus thus far has been on math and writing."
"The student and I reviewed over fractions and integers to begin, and then began working on single variable equations. She practiced solving equations with variables equal to a certain value. She had to practice order of operations and combining like terms in order to solve these problems correctly."
"The student and I covered a review of arithmetic and an intro to algebra. She continues to impress me with how thorough and dedicated she is! While we're progressing slowly through the material, I know she's getting a very solid foundation."
