Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In preparation for a test on proofs/congruent polygons, we reviewed the material the student had thus far covered in class. To do this, we went over old homework, as well as practice problems from her textbook/teacher."
"We reviewed permutations, combinations, and probability. The student did very well. It was clear that she understood the material very well."
"We began with the student doing his book homework and a couple of extra problems he was given on two worksheets, all involving the angle and arc relationships in a circle caused by chords and secants and tangents. He finds this much easier and is able to do two- and three-step problems involving this material. He then brought out his physics book to ask for help, and we did a few problems in Coulomb's law for electrostatic charges. I showed him how to do the math and the units correctly. Anyway, we got back to harder things he had trouble with during the year, radians, the sector formula his teacher derived, and geometric mean, and finished by making sure he still could do the angle and arc problems."
"Today, we covered rotational symmetry and lines of symmetry, compositions of transformations, and dilation of images in the coordinate plane. I left the student with the assignment of reworking her homework on compositions of transformations."
"Today, we covered similarity between shapes, finding the surface area and volume of similar shapes when the ratio of an edge or radius is known, and figuring out the corresponding sides of similar polygons. The student understood the material. He was positive during the session."
"I looked over the homework packet the student had for homework. She had completed the first 2 pages during the previous session. She had to complete the rest of the packet for this session. She did really well."
