Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through the student's algebra questions first. They were 8 questions about converting the quadratic equations to vertex format. He was able to do them by himself. Then we went through stoichiometry in chemistry. We solved about 12 questions. We covered mole calculations, % yield and gram calculations. He understood how to solve them and he is doing good."
"This was our last session, so we reviewed for the student's final ,which she is planning to take within the next two weeks. I have suggested that she photo copy the summary reactions at the end of the chapters and write specifics about each reaction on the summary sheets. These include the functional group, regioselectivity, and stereo-selectivity."
"First 20-30 minutes spent with Student 1- introduction of matrices and applications, we also reviewed homework materials. Remainder spent with Student 2. He and I spent time establishing methods for balancing equations and writing net ionic equations. The methods I taught him (which were extensions of what I taught to my undergrads years ago) proved more helpful than those his chemistry teacher had laid out (according to him). It was refreshing to see him take to this chemistry unit with a new motivation."
