Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had done a lot of work on his own, and we reviewed it. Grammar is his greatest area for improvement, and we spent all of our time on it, and we will continue to do so. He knows what he has to do; I gave him places both in his books and on the web which will help him review. Now he just needs to work on it consistently. We also discussed a book that he is reviewing for class called "Food in History.""
"We started the session with an overview on the ACT and the elements of each session since she hadn't taken it before. I provided a lot of tips and tricks that we then proceeded to apply as we practiced the Reading and English sections. Went very well."
"Today we went through the second half of an English ACT exam and the beginning of a math section. In English, the student was very adept at noting and correcting errors involving redundancy, punctuation, singular/plural errors, and parallelism. After he identified the correct answer, I would prompt him to name and identify the grammatical error in each sentence and possible answer choice. He grew increasingly confident in his ability to answer the English questions. In math, the early questions did not challenge his math knowledge. I helped him to use some time-saving strategy, and we will continue to work through more difficult math questions next week."
