Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I went over some science practice tests that he had done on his own. He is great with comparing two scientists' arguments. He had some issues with some genetics problems, but we worked through those. We then did some English practice. The tests weren't the clearest, but we talked about some good grammar rules like when to use a semicolon and the difference between then and than. We also did math practice, which the student did very well with. He will complete an entire practice test with test conditions for next time."
"The students and I started ACT preparation. I prepared a package of test taking strategies and recommended books for study and we reviewed concepts covered on the math portion of the exam. They were both left with practice problems for the reading and math sections. Both girls are extremely motivated, but benefited from refreshers on certain problems due to not taking trigonometry and geometry in a year. The roadmap is to include intensive reviews of each section of the exam before they take the test for the first time in February."
"We began by going over colons and semicolons again. We then switched gears from English to math and I covered some basic tips and strategies. Some of the topics discussed included using the process of elimination, and solving algebraic equations by substituting easy-to-use numbers. The student continues to improve in all areas."
