Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The concepts covered in this session included food vocabulary (breakfast and lunch), me gusta/me encantan (I like), and conjugating present er, ir, and ar verbs. The student appeared to know the material very well; she only needed help with a couple of word pronunciations and vocabulary words. She actively participated in the session. I asked her to create flashcards for vocabulary and verb tenses."
"Continued focus on factoring/FOILing and simplifying algebraic equations with Student 1. She seems to be more confident. Student 2 and I looked at some geometry (area of circles worksheet) and predominantly worked on her science review packet."
"Helped the student review Spanish material by going through worksheet on conjugating verbs and applying proper vocabulary. Also helped with simple interest problems in math and solving for an unknown variable. He should practice the I=PRT equation to solve for different variables as practice when he has the chance."
"The student will have a test on the preterit tense on Friday that she wanted to prepare for today. As demonstrated Sunday, she understands how to conjugate verbs in this tense. We reviewed, discussed, and clarified notes that her teacher shared. She expects that the format of this test will be similar to the exercises that she completed on Sunday, but in paragraph form. She asked me to create a practice test for her, so I wrote a story in which she needed to fill in the verbs. She did it well and understood what I had written. As an extra challenge, she continued with the story questions in her own words. She is very motivated to become conversant in this language and I love her enthusiasm and questioning. Like everything, fluency develops with lots of practice."
"The student and I reviewed the endocrine system (glands, hormones, and diseases). We did several online practice quizzes (labeling glands, recognizing hormone function) as well as Jeopardy! questions from her class."
"We worked on greetings, salutations, and introductions. The student always has a great attitude and a smile on her face. I included worksheets that I made myself and flashcards. I asked her to practice the different types of conversations and to study the vocabulary I gave her."
