Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on adding decimal numbers and reading them out using the proper place value terms today. He also did a quick warm-up on fractions as a continuation of a practice sheet from the previous session. The next topic we focused on was money. The student was presented with a problem on cards and he was able to come to a solution and practice how to solve problems with multiple steps. Finally, we also discussed problems with missing digits in the addend. The next session is on Saturday at 5:30pm."
"We spent the majority of the session working on memorizing a poem, which meant in addition to simply memorizing the text, we had to cover how Latin accent works, so she could get the pronunciation down for recitation. We also spent some time looking over a practice national Latin exam she was given in class, and I introduced more concepts like the metrical analysis of poetry."
"In today's session with the student, we worked on circular functions, circular functions with special angles, changing from degrees to radians, and finding the sine, cosine and tangent of those radians. The student understood these topics very well, and had very few questions about the material. He worked a number of the problems without any help and had no errors."
"Our main topic of review was mitosis and meiosis. We went over the stages of mitosis and meiosis and talked about the difference between the two processes. We also reviewed some principles of biochemistry."
"We looked over the math section that the student took and worked through each missed problem. We also talked about how to allocate time so he can rack up points in the medium problems and not burn time in the difficult ones."
"Today, we continued our review for the exam focusing on the War of 1812, the Compromise of 1820, and the expansion of the market economy. We are making good progress, and I hope to be caught up to where we started in the next couple of sessions."
