Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's recent Geometry homework involving geometric means and altitudes of right triangles. We also went over the student's Chemistry lab involving single replacement reactions. We reviewed the activity series of elements and finished the lab report. Overall, the student seemed to understand the material very well."
"We reviewed for an upcoming Geometry quiz by practicing a variety of problems. We covered the Pythagorean Theorem, Special Right Triangles, and Triangle Similarities. We discussed a few tricks for visualizing similar triangles and at the end I gave her a timed mini-quiz of sample problems to help with getting used to a testing environment."
"We went over some problems involving an integration of geometric properties of triangles and circles. We reinforced the use of a particular strategy when "stuck" on a problem. That strategy involves identifying and writing down as many new true statements about a figure as possible without worrying yet about how they will get us to the final answer. After beginning this process, we paused to check back in with our end goal and see how we might get there from the new information we generated. This process is then iterated until a solution is found. Developing strong mathematical proofreading skills will continue to be a goal of our time together."
"We worked on some more general review for this session. Because the student is transitioning between topics in both Geometry and Algebra II, we just worked on some various review topics from both subjects, and we will do some more targeted practice tomorrow, now that I know what topics he is working on."
"The student is improving very fast in geometry! He just had a geometry test today, and he thought it was very easy and understandable. We began previewing the next chapter so that he will have an easier time in class. He has no homework from me today since he just had a test. Beginning next week, we will previewing as well as review further for his final exam."
"We went over the first several pages of the Final Study Guide. We also reviewed key formulas and strategies. (Debriefed with mother on the phone afterwards.)"
