Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over limits of rational expressions and their respective graphs. The student already had a substantial understanding but needed help graphing functions without a calculator. I showed him the basics of identifying asymptotes and how to apply them to graphs."
"The student and I continued studying extrema, incorporating the first- and second-derivative tests for increase, decrease, and concavity. It took her a few problems to warm up to the tests, but once she did, her only issues were minor errors."
"Today we talked about how to find local minimums and maximums using the first and second derivatives. We used a number line to keep track of critical points and then tested points in between. He caught on once I laid out the steps to find all the points of interest."
"The student got her test back and did extremely well -- 92 + 5 points for the curve = 97. She was very happy about it. In this session we covered related rates problems. By the end, she was really getting the hang of them. We also started the next section on linearization. She is in very good shape and is staying on top of the course material very well."
"We have introduced the concept of integration using Riemann Sums. It required working with areas of shapes under the curve of the function from using concepts relating limits and antiderivatives."
"The student had concerns about derivative rules. A lot of his problems came from doubting himself more than being unfamiliar with the current material. I would like to try and help in fill in some of the gaps created by taking such an accelerated class."
