Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I prepared for her test. We reviewed z-scores, probability distributions and how to use the normcdf and invNorm functions on her calculator."
"Reviewed z scores, normal, binomial distributions. Did HW problems on these topics. Also, central limit theorem and properties of p -- probability of success in binomial."
"Today we covered the basics of descriptive and inferential statistics. We also spent about half of the time on Levels of Measurement."
"The student had a test today, so we spent the start of the session going over problems from the test to see if she answered them correctly. We practiced solving complex exponential and logarithmic functions. Once she was showing a stronger understanding of the topic, we moved on to power functions which will be the next subject she will be covering. Her teacher just started to mention the topic, so this early practice should give her a head start on the subject."
"Today the student finished his math homework and then started his history homework. He is doing very well with math. I left him with the assignment to complete his history homework, and to continue work on his science project."
"Student A and I worked through more GCF and LCM fraction worksheets for her school. She practiced more multiplication math facts, we discussed fact families for division and multiplication and worked through some long division problems at her request. She is starting some decimal work, so I reviewed tenths and number places. She ran through vocabulary I gave her a week ago and also looked at words such as "puddle"...short vowel followed by double consonant followed by -le, so that Laura can practice this type of word pattern recognition. Student B had less work; she went over what her math quiz was on today: reflections, ratios, congruent and similar shapes. We continue to review and practice systems of equations, what they mean in relation to equation of a line and the corresponding graphs. This practice also helps her algebraic skills."
