"Student and I again focused on the essay and critical reading section of the exam. We discussed the general focus and approach to answering the questions and prompts, and also what types of examples are most and least appropriate. For critical reading, we looked at science passages, in addition to questions that reference multiple passages. We talked about the strategy for how to approach both types of passages and their relevant questions."
"Focused on critical reading sections - evaluating how the student did on his critical reading homework. He is OK at the sentence completion: the main way he can improve is to memorize vocabulary. For critical reading, he could use "making a caricature" as a strategy to "summarize" passages. Homework: critical reading sections, Practice test 2 from the SAT study guide."
"The student and I began by discussing her prior test prep. She said that she normally scores about 690 per section, with Writing as her highest score. We used test 1 of the SAT prep book for practice. In addition to making a study list of the words, I recommended that she learn 10 words a day from her vocab list. In Math, some of the concepts that we discussed were averages, geometric and arithmetic sequences, remainders, manipulating algebraic expressions, finding the length of horizontal/vertical lines, and using triangles to solve 3D Geometry problems. In the Writing section that she took, she did very well."
