Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued to review her study guide for the final, where I answered any of her questions as she had them."
"Today in class, the student's professor covered multiple forms of an equation of a line. The student practiced writing equations and drawing graphs when given different information to start. She was able to explain to some of her classmates about the slope of a horizontal and vertical line. She has shown great improvement in her algebra skills."
"Today we covered all topics for the final exam. These included trigonometric functions, identities, and word problems. Also, we went over polar coordinate and function conversions to rectangular coordinates and functions in both directions. We worked through problem sets for review and consulted the final review sheet."
"The student has his final this Thursday. We covered several topics from a review worksheet and about half the sample problems from previous exams. We focused on learning how to use his calculator for solving vector and complex number problems. We also reviewed complex numbers, vectors and, trig substitutions."
"We worked through the student's review in PreCalc for her final. This included long division with polynomials, synthetic division, determining asymptotes, partial fraction decomposition, and maximizing systems of equations. She did really well with most of it, but initially struggled with long division and partial fraction decomposition. She quickly picked it up, however. We finished the session with a few physics clarifications about how gravity is related to acceleration as well as the ways in which acceleration and velocity are affected by varying ramp heights/ inclines."
"We reviewed and corrected a past precalculus test. There was slight improvement from the last test. I believe the student mastered the material, but lost points due to algebraic or simple math error. After correcting those errors, we discussed some test taking skills, such as reviewing work with a calculator. Further test-taking skills may be discussed in the future to complete tests faster so that time for review is allowed."
