Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over limits, in particular when x approaches 0 and x approaches infinity. We plan to meet alternate weeks."
"Section 3.7, 3.8: implicit differentiation, log/exponent derivatives. I encouraged the student to do more practice than is given in the course syllabus. Need to keep reviewing all the basic derivative rules and formulas."
"We covered integrals and the linear approximation rule. The student seems to need more work with setup of integrals. She has homework which she is to complete."
"Today we worked on a homework practice test focusing on limits, continuity, derivatives, and applications of integration. Although he as annoyed with the work, his strong math logic and understanding aided him throughout the session. His only area of improvement would be his need to minimize mistakes and memorizing trigonometric values and functions. Otherwise, he progressed extremely well."
"The student and I worked through problems on the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and definite integrals as they relate to areas under curves. We also reviewed limits as x approaches infinity at the end of the session."
"Today the student and I spent this session preparing for her last calculus 1 test before her final. The exam will cover differentiation, indefinite/definite integrals, u-substitution, optimization, and approximation of an area under the curve using rectangles. We completed her entire study guide and she stated that there would only be two optimization problems on the exam, and that one would be the same from the study guide. I definitely believe she can gain enough credit on the exam to pull off an A. My only suggestion for her, is that she needs to take her time."
