Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For today's session, we studied a general national examination review for the SAT II subject test - Math 2. We covered exponential math, real numbers, general number theory, trigonometry, graphs of various functions and their manipulations as well as polynomials and geometry. All of the content was review. She simply needed a reminder and was able to perform every example quickly. Luckily the conics were recently covered in her class, so it was familiar already. The same goes for sequences and series. We reviewed some of the geometry, including surface area, area and volume of various solids, such as prisms, pyramids, cubes, and spheres. We also took some time to discuss various equations and laws of trigonometry which she already knew, but which beared repeating for the upcoming examination. The only new material which we covered was linear and other least squares regression. Even though this was new material, she was able to understand the equations and we found the correlation between populated data."
"The student and I reviewed vector concepts in preparation for her quiz, working through the review tests at the end of chapters 12 and 14."
"Today we covered problems from the student's practice final that she had some trouble with. She was able to understand all of the problems once we went through them together, and she practiced some complicated proofs and matrices on her own with ease. I noticed a significant difference this time in her in that she needed very little help from me save for a few questions. I feel that she has a very good grasp on the material and will do well on the final exam!"
"We covered hyperbolas and ellipses. The student seems to have a solid grasp on the material now. He seems confident and I believe he will be successful taking his test tomorrow."
"The student had a few worksheets that we went through together. They were based on trigonometric functions and their inverses. I showed her how the inverse trig functions acts like log and exponential and that cleared up so much confusion for her. We also looked at her review sheet for an upcoming test and she did very well on those."
"In today's session, we worked on practice problems for the student's physics test tomorrow, specifically with springs and frequency. He needs to make sure he memorized the formulas for the test tomorrow, but otherwise is going to be fine tomorrow."
