Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was having problems with area of sectors and area of polygons. She said she understood for the most part. However, she sometimes got formulas and steps mixed up. We worked on one homework problem and two non-homework problems that were challenging. I identified where she was getting confused and helped her resolve those issues."
"Worked on homework for current lesson on rhombuses. Also reviewed other parallelogram lessons in the chapter in advance of next week's test. The student has to memorize all of the lists of characteristics of each shape/ways to identify each shape."
"The student and I have started working through reviewing for his final. We are also working through how to handle acids and bases."
"This week, the student and I worked on inscribed angles, and I am happy to report that we went ahead of what his class is working on. He's going to be ready for tomorrow's lesson! He's a very bright student, and his progress remains on track."
"Today, we covered/reviewed proofs, angles of depression, and elevation as well as solved triangles with different side lengths. The student had an excellent attitude and worked really hard the whole time. We discussed a few strategies - one was separating the two different sets of parallel sides in a parallelogram to look at various angles that are congruent due to the parallel lines. We also talked about drawing two different triangles for the angle of depression type problems. The student is going to work on this and watch a video related to bearing problems for extra practice. Wins from the session included finding different/easier ways to break down proof and angle of depression problems. I believe that, with a little more studying, the student will be very successful on the final."
"In this session, the student and I went through his review packet in preparation for his exam on Monday. As far as specific concepts are concerned, we discussed properties of parallelograms, properties of triangles, and applications of both triangles and quadrilaterals. This was an excellent session, and I think he will do exceedingly well on his exam tomorrow."
