"He worked on his money skills: counting, figuring, and making change with word problems. Next, we worked similes in sentences. He had to find and identify the simile in the sentence. Then we worked on irregular verbs in the past, present, and future tenses."
"I covered both math and social science homework with the student. She was struggling with "multiple of unit fraction", which I further explained and we completed the homework on that. I also helped with the reading on social science and she filled in the outline. She made flashcards with the words I went over, including examples to practice on her own."
"We began our session by reducing fractions to their simplest forms. Next, we compared fractions using the greater than sign, the less than sign, and the equal to sign. Then, we used graphs to become more familiar how to use fractions. During the last 30 minutes of class, the student read 10 more pages of Harry Potter's "Deathly Hallows" book."
"The student and I discussed his week so far and spent some time mapping out his work schedule for this weekend and the coming week, which will be fairly busy with a paper, quiz, and exam. We spent the majority of the session outlining, discussing, and researching for his second SAGES paper, which is due Sunday night. He gained some skills regarding how to utilize library resources, note-taking, and citing and discussing academic articles, and seems to be in good shape for the rest of the paper."
"The student pulled his assignments for this week, and I entered them on his desk calendar. I put boxes after each assignment so he could check off each assignment as it is completed. I helped him check off two of the tasks that are due tomorrow."
"Today we went over the student's material from last week and the chemistry test he had today, which he said was easier than expected. I also asked him about the new reading skills we talked about, which he's implementing and thinks are helping. We then spent the rest of the session going over reading comprehension strategies. To finish, I had him practice these strategies on a short chemistry passage, and he did well. I asked him to use these strategies with each of his readings and show me next Monday. For our next session, we will go over note taking strategies."
