Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on the sentence revision questions for the writing section of the exam today. The areas we looked at involved reflexive pronouns, correct prepositions, pronoun agreement, dangling/misplaced modifiers, semicolons, and coordinating conjunctions. We only focused on the difficult questions. The student was a very quick learner with the explanations behind the concepts. While we only went through about ten questions, we used those questions to have very constructive lessons on issues that will appear all over the SAT. On Monday, we will turn our attention back to the essay portion of the exam."
"I gave the student an in-depth overview of what to expect in the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the SAT, including the types of questions and the number of each type that appear on the test. I assigned the student passages to read from a practice test for the Critical Reading session, so that the student can practice determining the purpose, tone, and relationship of passages. I also assigned him 51 common SAT words to memorize through an interactive website."
"Today we split up our 2-hour session between ACT science, reading, and SAT essay writing. The student is doing very well. He just needs to take the time required to understand the questions. We will meet again next Sunday for our next session."
