"The student and I worked on the critical reading portion of the exam today. We began the lesson by focusing on sentence completion questions. We focused primarily on context and appropriateness through derived definitions for this lesson, and he seemed to pick up this concept well. We then practiced one passage. For it, we read it together, and I modeled how to decipher it and its meanings. This resulted in him being able to score very well. Obviously, this needs to happen without me being there to translate the passage for him, but it's a starting point that we will continue with next week."
"The student is doing very well, Today we continued improving her essay-writing skills. It was a great session."
"We again went over the whole SAT test in a general sense, though focusing this time especially on the things we didn't cover in depth last time, including dissecting critical reading passages and manipulating ratios and proportions. We also worked on outlining essays. Her general approach to working on problems is clearly improving - she's slowing herself down, making sure she knows what the question is asking, making predictions for correct answers, etc. She expressed being more confident with the test overall after the past two sessions, and she is looking forward to doing a practice test over the coming week."
