Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Complex number systems, polynomial expansion and reduction, general testing strategies. Student was able to demonstrate solid understanding of the topic by the end of the session. Questions about how imaginary numbers can be manipulated with exponential orders were cleared up. The student also shows competence in understanding where errors can be made under testing conditions and how to avoid the root causes in the future."
"More math! We finished up with graphing topics, so the student is now a pro with lines, parabolas, circles, and graphing inequalities. We did some problems from tests that required her new knowledge, and she did pretty well with them. We only have a few more topics to work through before we're through them all and have filled in the holes missed by her classes."
"We reviewed some thermodynamics calculus derivations and mathematical analysis for his final exam. He seemed quite prepared for his exam, especially since having made such great progress during our previous three sessions."
"We first worked on algebra, which covered how to multiply polynomials, both monomial and binomial. We used the FOIL (First, Outer, Inner, Last) method to multiply binomials. For biology, we reviewed the chapter that she had just gone over in class. It included how ecosystems, more specifically niches, are changed by living and non-living influences acting on them. And how things like wildfire or competition for resources can change a niche. The student read the chapter and took notes before so it was more of a review. I think that the work that she is putting in outside of tutoring is really helping her to learn this material."
"During this session, we reviewed conjugation of verbs in the imperfect tense, and the vocabulary from Chapter 6. We continued to review and introduced new vocabulary words to give the verbs some context. As practice, I suggested that the student review the vocabulary in Chapter 6."
"Today, the student and I worked on revising a DBQ. We read over the documents and question and found a way to rework her response by focusing on forming a more complex thesis. She is excellent at understanding and describing the content of the documents, so today's session was mainly focused on improving her analytical skills."
